These images were taken around 2004, just after the interior of K.I.T.T. came together — the dashboard, the armrest console, the overhead console, the front nose, and all the scanner components and subsystems that make the car feel alive. What you're seeing here isn't quite the car as it sits today; back then, K.I.T.T. wasn't yet running the full sound system it carries now.
The original setup was built around a "removable" sound system — a deliberate choice to keep theft at bay. The serious gear, the amplifiers and subwoofers, was all portable, so I could pull it out and leave nothing behind but a baseline stereo to play music without lying awake worrying about somebody walking off with thousands of dollars of equipment. That system evolved into what it is today when my friend Joe Paquette introduced me to another genuinely ingenious guy, Thomas William Holmes III (passed 2011 — rest his soul). Tom took something that was already great and quietly built it into something awesome.
The final results are what you see in the gallery. A special thanks goes out to my family and friends, to Joe Paquette and his family, and to Thomas Holmes III and his family, for all the time, effort, and patience it took to get me across the goal line on K.I.T.T.. Everybody pitched in on the sound system's design and installation in one way or another — but I'll say this plainly: without these two, Tom and Joe, what you're looking at simply wouldn't exist.
The car remains in this same configuration today, and it'll most likely stay that way no matter what new technology comes along. Some projects you chase forever — this is one I was finally happy to call finished.

It was a beautiful day and I decided to take the car out for a ride. K.I.T.T. started right up and ran great. These pictures bring back lots of fun memories of the build. While I'll never tear it down again, I will be doing some minor upgrades as time permits.

These videos were shot long before smartphones, GoPros, and the pocket-sized 4K cameras we all take for granted today. Back then I was recording on a consumer camcorder straight to tape, and "high res" meant 320 x 240 at 30fps in the analog domain — what I jokingly call "Old School Taping." There's no hidden detail buried in that footage waiting to be unlocked; analog tape captures what it captures, soft edges, tape noise, dropouts and all. What you're watching was about as good as it got for a guy working out of his garage at the time — and honestly, I'm just glad I hit "record" at all.
That's also what makes restoring it tricky. Upscaling analog to 1080p or 4K isn't as simple as making it bigger — stretch a 320 x 240 frame that far and you're asking software to invent detail that was never there to begin with. Push it too hard and the modern AI upscalers start "hallucinating," smearing faces and turning honest tape grain into weird digital mush. So I'm taking my time: cleaning up the noise and the interlacing first, then upscaling just enough to look right on a modern TV without that over-processed, plastic look. It's a work in progress, and I'll post the restored versions here as I recreate them.
Until then, enjoy them for what they are: a record of just how much work went into building this car. I was holding down a full-time job with two small kids at home when most of this was filmed, and I was lucky — genuinely lucky — to have the support around me that made building K.I.T.T. possible at all.

Some of my friends were asking about the car and it was a good time to stretch its legs on a beautiful day. Car still looks and runs great, I will be driving it a bit more as it is so much fun to drive. Videos were taken when I worked an inMusic as a design engineer. All groups including mechanical, electrical, video, graphics & management dropped by to see what was SciFi turned into reality. That is truly where all the time and effort of building it, not just for me, but for others to enjoy as well.

This is the running log of every major change to the site since it first went live back in 2001 — the renovations, the rebuilds, and the occasional fire I've had to put out. If you're curious how this thing has evolved over the years, here it is, newest first.
06/23/2026 — Rebuilt the entire site from the ground up after it got hacked. Some people really are zeros — but we're back, and locked down tighter than ever.
09/02/2023 — Finished the latest round of adjustments; general operation and pagination are all sorted. Should be solid for a while… until the next update. Enjoy.
09/01/2023 — Rolled the site onto the latest template version. Plenty of corrections still to make — bear with me, it'll take some time.
05/16/2023 — Major renovation underway. Joomla pushed some big core updates that knocked several site-wide extensions out of step. Working to get everything operational ASAP.
